Supporting the Volunteer Response
In times of crisis, our communities come together, which is great – but we also need to consider how we safeguard the most vulnerable in our society, from potential exploitation.
Across the country local authorities are working with Volunteer Centres, Councils for Voluntary Services (CVS) and other national charities to provide a co-ordinated and managed volunteer response to help minimise the risk to vulnerable people, and to make sure the necessary safety checks are in place.

We’re keen that everybody can benefit from this new tool – any Volunteer Centres, CVSs, charities and local authorities who need help with their volunteer recruitment, please get in touch.
Digital social prescribing and community support
COVID-19 is changing social prescribing delivery, and the need is even greater now for Link Worker support.
Our social prescribing platform supports partnership working across sectors, ensuring social prescribing, wellbeing and Public Health teams can work together and continue to support the socially isolated, vulnerable, and those in need during the COVID-19 crisis.
Teams can continue to refer people to virtual, online and telephone support services that will help their physical and mental health and wellbeing.
Our digital platform allows staff to continue their support to existing clients, whilst managing new referrals and increasing case-loads. Our integrated directory of services provides up to date information on support available that can best support clients during these challenging times.
We’re also working with our network of community partners to recruit and mobilise volunteers to help expand social prescribing services during COVID-19.
