Founder, Sirinda Bhandal, nominated for ‘Digital Leader of the Year’ award

We’re delighted to announce that Sirinda has been nominated for the prestigious ‘Digital Leader of the Year’ award – and now needs YOUR VOTE!

 

The Digital Leaders 100 is created by public vote and celebrates those who work hard to drive forwards the UK’s Digital Transformation.

The Digital Leader of the Year award recognises individuals whose actions stand out as leading digital transformation of their sector.

 

Sirinda says;

“I’m so honoured and humbled to be nominated for Digital Leader of the Year, for my work helping to digitally transform how people access services in their community to support their health and wellbeing.

I’d like to use this opportunity to raise the profile of the amazing work done by charities and voluntary organisations across the country, and particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. At Simply Connect we’ve seen first-hand how charity partners across the UK have worked with the NHS and Local Authorities to help those most in need during the crisis, and put in so much time and commitment with little or no extra funding.

Supporting the fourth Emergency Service

“Charities are providing the fourth emergency service, now more than ever before!  And we provide the digital tools to help them do this.

I worked in a charity – a Council for Voluntary Service in Sheffield – for over 20 years, supporting those most disadvantaged, and I know we were often the last port of call, when social services, GPs or the police couldn’t help someone. They would turn up at our door. Whether someone was experiencing domestic abuse, at risk of being homeless, recently bereaved, or perhaps a young carer needing someone to talk to – this is where the essential support of charities come in.”

Recently we’ve been working closely with NHS and Local Authority partners to link them to community services, and help charities and the voluntary sector to co-ordinate their services to quickly help those most in need. This includes linking them with local volunteers to do emergency food shopping, collect prescriptions, or provide emotional support through ‘check-in and chat’ volunteers and befriending – all supported by our national network of charity partners.

It’s part of our core mission at Simply Connect to really raise the profile of the great work charities, volunteers and voluntary organisations do across the country. So whilst I’m honoured and excited to be nominated for this award – alongside some inspirational people who are using digital to transform services – I feel this award is for charities and voluntary organisations across the country.

It’s also testament to the great team we have at Simply Connect, who have also dedicated their lives to jobs where they work to help others – without which none of the work we do would be possible. People working for charities do so because they are people who really care about people, and that is one of our core values at Simply Connect – a truly ‘tech4good’ company.”
